A Different Kind of
Gun Rights Organization

We're building a movement that rejects the false binary of "pro-gun" versus "anti-gun." We're progressive. We support the Second Amendment. And we believe real safety comes from community investment, not just legislation.

Violence Prevention

We invest in what actually works: community violence intervention, mental health access, and economic opportunity. Prevention over punishment.

Protect Vulnerable Communities

Gun violence hits marginalized communities hardest. We center the voices of those most impacted and fight for solutions that serve them.

Equitable Access to Rights

Self-defense is a civil right—one that has been denied to many. We fight for equitable access and against discriminatory enforcement.

Protection.
Responsibility.
Justice.

We reject the false choice between civil liberties and community safety. True progressive values means defending both—championing responsible gun ownership while fighting for the communities most impacted by violence.

Our approach is rooted in equity: addressing systemic issues, investing in prevention, and ensuring that Second Amendment rights extend to everyone—especially those historically denied protection.

01

Community Protection

Every neighborhood deserves safety. We advocate for violence intervention programs, mental health resources, and community-based solutions that actually work—not just policing, but prevention.

02

Responsible Ownership

Rights come with responsibilities. We champion comprehensive training, secure storage practices, and a culture of accountability that makes gun ownership safer for owners, families, and communities alike.

03

Social Justice

Gun violence disproportionately impacts Black and brown communities, low-income neighborhoods, and marginalized groups. We fight for policies that address root causes: poverty, discrimination, and lack of opportunity.

04

Equal Rights for All

The Second Amendment belongs to everyone. We oppose discriminatory enforcement, support LGBTQ+ and BIPOC gun owners, and believe self-defense is a civil right that must be protected equitably.

05

Evidence-Based Policy

We reject both fear-based legislation and do-nothing obstruction. Our advocacy is grounded in research—supporting proven interventions while opposing ineffective measures that burden lawful owners without improving safety.

Real People,
Real Perspectives

Our community includes organizers, veterans, parents, and activists united by a common belief: safety and rights belong to everyone.

"I grew up in a neighborhood where gun violence took too many people I loved. Progressive Defense understands that protecting communities means investing in them—not just passing laws or arming up. It means both."

"As a queer person, self-defense isn't abstract—it's survival. Progressive Defense is the only gun rights org that stands with my community while fighting for sensible, evidence-based solutions."

"I served two tours overseas defending this country and the Constitution. Back home, I wanted an organization that honors both my service and my progressive values. Progressive Defense does that without compromise."

"Living in a rural area, a firearm is part of daily life—for protection and for putting food on the table. But I also believe in universal healthcare and workers' rights. Finally, there's a place for people like me."
